About English Day
Every year, on April 23rd, a very special date is commemorated worldwide, the English Language Day.
This day is commemorated, due to the death of the famous author and poet William Shakespeare, curiously, this same day died a very recognized Spanish figure in literature, Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, therefore, this day is celebrated as both the day of English and the day of the Spanish language. For this reason, most people recognize this date as Spanish Language Day..
English Day in LGP
With the main purpose of representing this great second language that we handle in the institution, recognizing it is a beautiful honor, given that this is the first English Day celebrated at LGP.
Given the occasion, we decided to prepare a day full of activities and experiences to develop, together with our students, the skills of writing, reading, listening comprehension and speaking production. Visualizing this opportunity, we fulfilled our objective.
The following are the activities that took place during this important day.
1. Spelling Bee contest
2. Let's show our talent! 1st Edition
En este maravilloso día, los estudiantes participaron de una increíble actividad que lanzó su primera edición este año, un concurso el cual los llevo a dar lo mejor de sí mismos al escenario para cantar composiciones en inglés, "Let's show our talent - 1st edition" fue un proyecto del cual se venía trabajando desde el año 2022 y que dió finalmente sus frutos este año 2023.
En este concurso de canto, los estudiantes practicaron sus habilidades de comprensión auditiva y producción hablada en la segunda lengua, y que a la vez demostró ser una actividad efectiva para el desarrollo del compañerismo entre los chicos.
3. A letter for my best friend
Para finalizar este maravilloso día, nuestros estudiantes tuvieron una actividad relacionada a todas las habilidades de comunicación a través de la escritura, realizando una carta para su mejor amigo/a en la cual hablaran sobre un tema que los apasionara y les gustara comunicarle a su amigo.
A lo largo de esta actividad los estudiantes reforzaron su puntuación, capitalización, gramática y coherencia en sus textos de una manera divertida y diferente a la convencional.
